Welcome to the Take Up The Sword Podcast, where Ryan Skolrud and Matt DeSmidt encourage their listeners to dig into the Word of God in order to understand it as fully as possible. We plan to work through books of the Bible, exegeting and discussing, verse-by-verse to give a full representation of what God’s Word has to say to us today.
In this first episode, Ryan Skolrud gives his thoughts on why he started the podcast, combatting “Soundbite Theology”, knowing the CONTEXT of any passage of Scripture, and that this show should not be a substitute for going to church or reading the Bible yourself.
We have to know the Word of God because it is the Sword of the Spirit and it is our best weapon to fight back against an enemy that has had millennia upon millennia to perfect how to twist Scripture, how to lie, how to accuse, and how to condemn.
So let’s get ready for battle against our enemy “…and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Eph 6:17b)
